The Harry J. Enns Wetland Discovery Centre is an environmental education facility located at the edge of Oak Hammock Marsh Wildlife Management Area. A collaborative effort between Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and the Province of Manitoba, the Centre’s mission is to connect people with wetlands. It serves as a hub for learning, exploration, and conservation, highlighting the importance of wetlands for wildlife and people alike.

To enhance visitor engagement, DUC partnered with Lord Cultural Resources and WeatherstonBruer Associates to develop an Interpretive Renewal Plan and updated exhibits. The redesigned experience, which opened in May 2025, features immersive exhibits that reimagine the display of an extensive collection and increase interactivity through multimedia storytelling. A key component of this renewal was the integration of Indigenous perspectives, languages, and traditional knowledge, developed in collaboration with Indigenous knowledge holders. These elements are integrated throughout the exhibits to enrich understanding of the natural world and cultural connections to the land.

One of the highlights of the renewal was the revitalization of the impressive entrance diorama, which showcases local wetland flora and fauna with dynamic lighting effects that shift to illustrate changes over the course of a day. Another standout feature is the towering “wall of species,” which brings new energy to the centre’s remarkable collection of mounted specimens.

The project was fabricated and installed by Kubik Maltbie and opened to the public in May 2025.
