Cretaceous CrossroadS

PERMANENT GALLERY

Museum of the Rockies
Bozeman, MT, USA

2,300 sq.ft.

The Museum of the Rockies (MOR) houses one of the largest paleontological collections in North America, with a specific focus on fossils found in Montana. In its first new exhibit in over ten years, MOR partnered with Bluewater Studios, Lord Cultural Exhibits, and WeatherstonBruer Associates to create Cretaceous Crossroads: a permanent 2,300 square foot exhibit that opened in June 2025. The exhibit features never-before-displayed specimens of mounted dinosaur fossils, marine reptiles, micro-vertebrates, and flora from Montana’s Upper Cretaceous period, including three large dinosaur skeletons.

A key component of the design was the integration of immersive, hands-on components such as audiovisual interactives, discovery drawers, microscope examination stations, and other engaging learning tools. Together with the incredible mounted dinosaurs, these elements were designed to spark curiosity and exploration while highlighting the significance of the late Cretaceous as a time of major evolutionary and environmental change.
