Game On! is a dynamic exhibition that explores the history of games and their role in creating connection, fueling competition and learning-through-play. Coinciding with the excitement of the 2026 World Cup in Toronto, this summer exhibition invites audiences of all ages to appreciate the diversity of games, from ancient chess sets to contemporary video games and sports.
Working closely with curator Bita Pourvash and the Aga Khan exhibition team, WBa led the 2d and 3d exhibition design. Our exhibition design strikes a balance between traditional gallery displays that invite close-looking and hands-on interactives that engage visitors through gameplay. The exhibit design takes cues from game design with game-like circulation, moments of choice, challenge and interaction. The design also takes inspiration from environments of play, such as “chess in the park”, the player’s entry into the arena and the dark environment of a PC gamer’s room.
Bright colours and bold graphics compliment the historic artwork with an exciting and varied atmosphere. The addition of large-scale photography further immerses visitors in the historic context while highlighting one of the most important aspects of games: the players themselves.
